Awkward & Awesome Thursdays!

 {photo courtesy of my friend Lindsay!}
**Moving out of my’s been my home for the last three years!
**My coworker coming to my desk, letting out little (but deadly) farts and then walking away as if nothing happened. Seriously?
**Forgetting to scramble up the magnetic poetry on our fridge when Brian’s Dad and stepmom stayed with us. Our poems were not family friendly! :x
**The amount of STUFF I have accumulated over the last few years. It’s insane.
**You know what else is insane? The number of bug bites on my feet and legs. Anybody have any little tricks to keep the mosquitoes away??

**Moving in with my boyfriend! It’s funny, I thought it would *feel* maybe I would notice a shift in our immediate universe. But it doesn’t at all, feels totally normal. :) Plus it’s super great seeing him everyday.
**Brian’s Dad and step mom coming down to help us move!
**Our friends coming to help me move AND bringing a horse trailer for all my shit!
**Memorial Day grillin’ (and bags) with all our happy helpers!
**Audio books! I have Spanish for Dummies & The Paris Wife. :)
**Brian getting up early and making me breakfast yesterday. So sweet!

Fallen Off

I fee like I sort of fell off the planet...the internet planet that is. I haven’t read anyone’s blogs since early last week, it feels so strange! In any case, the moving part is over, but now we just have to get me unpacked. I’ve made quite a bit of progress...the bedroom is pretty much done, the kitchen is totally done and Brian set up my computer while I was at work today. :) So, I will just keep going from room to room until it’s all unpacked! I have a few older a couple weeks ago older) outfits I can post this week, then hopefully my life will get unhectic and I can get some new shots. Until then, here’s what I’ve been up to the past couple weeks.

Theo & his new hair do! // girlfriends up for a visit // comfy friday outfit
moscow mule //cappuccino martini! // Jello a hollow orange, thanks pinterest!
outfit deets // breakfast of champs // Brian & I moving my shit!
Theo & Tyler = BFFs // Night Bags! // hazy morning before moving
Dreamsicle = diet sunkist + malibu rum) // my sleepy boys // 1st packed lunch...and it matched my book!

Happy Monday Tuesday!!

Recipe: Eggs 'n Stuff

Kassie’s Egg’s & Stuff

So, this is a total cop-out for a real recipe...because obviously you just make eggs and add stuff. However, this is a staple on weekend mornings, so I thought I’d just share what I generally “add”. :)

You Need:
Eggs or egg beaters
Almond milk
Veggies, chopped
Meat of sorts (optional)
shredded cheese
Other Seasonings you like - I like using minced garlic or garlic powder. :)

You Do:

1. First, heat up some oil in a pan. If you are going to add meat, cook it first. Then add your veggies. I generally just use whatever is left in the fridge from the previous week. This day I used green peppers (yum!) and carrots! If you are using meat that’s already cooked (I used a leftover ranch burger from the night before, ha), then wait till your veggies have cooked for a few minutes, then add it.

2. While the veggies are doing their thing, prep your eggs. I generally make 1.5-2 eggs per person. So crack and whisk your eggs in a separate dish. If you want the eggs to be a bit fluffier add a some milk, I use almond milk. Just eyeball it! I also usually add some spices here, like the garlic powder and a bit of pepper.

3. Next pour the eggs into the pan with your veggies. I let it sit and firm up for a minute or two before I start “scramblin”. If you want add some more pepper and a smidge of salt now. I also added a bit of cheese at this point.

4. Lastly, start scramblin’ your eggs! You’ll want to do this over low/med heat so they don’t burn. Add more cheese and seasonings if you want and just cook your eggs to your liking. I don’t like mine runny, so I cook them all the way.

There ya go! Super easy and yummy!

P.S.  I'm without a computer this week!  I scheduled some posts, but please bear with me on the finale leg of my move.  Thanks!!  <3

Style Log: Don't Worry, Be Happy

{dress/f21 :: watch/target :: everything else :: no clue :P }

I feel like I need to focus more on doing things that make me happy, rather than just things I just feel like I should be doing. I’m not talking about shirking my grown-up responsibilities or anything - just refocusing things. It’s getting warmer now and I plan on enjoying my summer fully.

So, some things I’d like to do...or stop doing:

-Spend less time in front of the TV. I mean that’s easier in the summer ‘cause “my shows” aren’t on, but still. Sometimes I just get to lazy and spend sunday afternoons watching movies. LAME.

-Be more active. Play lots of tennis. Take Theo on lots of walks. Maybe even play some basketball again. :P

-Explore. I will be living in a semi new town this summer, while I’m familiar with the immediate area I’m not with the surrounding stuff...there will be a lot of new places available to me within a hour or two drive. :)

-Get back into photography! This has really fallen back as of late, not cool, not cool. I really want to get back into the habit of taking my camera everywhere with me.

-I want to learn new things.  My commute is getting longer by about 40 minutes, so I'm thinking about getting some language CDs for the drive - spanish maybe?  Seems the most logical.  And maybe get back into the piano or guitar?

-Decorate or house!  Do DIY home and art projects!

-Maintain a healthy lifestyle.  Eat better!

Okay, that's all I can think of for now!
My friends are headed up this weekend for a girls weekend and I couldn't be more excited! It's gonna rock!  Hope you all have great weekends as well!

Things I'm Afraid to Tell You

I saw this on Oh the lovely things blog (and I think it started here) - and I felt a ring of truth to it...and I liked the general idea behind it all. It’s true, blog Kassie and real life Kassie aren’t necessarily the same person. I mean, I’m not drastically different (I don’t think?), but I’m definitely an edited down...or censored version of myself on my blog. I choose my words carefully as not to offend people and I stay away from any sort of touchy subject so I don’t alienate or make any readers feel uncomfortable. While, in some ways I don’t see anything wrong with other ways I think....wait, what? Why am I doing that? You see, I’m supposed to be blogging for myself, because it’s something I enjoy. And while one of the big things I enjoy is connecting with other people, how real of a connection is it if I’m not really being myself?

So, I’m going to share some things that I have been afraid to tell you - afraid for the reasons above and also because hey, this is the internet where ANYONE can read it. A couple of these things I actually wrote up a post about, but never hit publish.  I figure now is as good as time as any.

Things I’m afraid to tell you...

1. I have HPV (human papillomavirus). I generally don’t share this information, because well it’s personal and because people assume crazy shit. Please educate yourself before passing too much judgement. HPV is extremely common and often doesn’t show any symptoms (which is why it’s so common, just gets passed along unknowingly). One reason I’m sharing this today is for other woman. Other woman who have it...or who don’t. Please ladies, stay up on your yearly check ups! While HPV is often no biggie, in some cases it can cause cervical cancer. I personally have already had surgery once (3 years ago) for prevention measures and I recently had a second biopsy to see if I need it again. It is a slow growing cancer, so as long as you stay up to date on your check ups you should be able to catch anything unusual!  For the record, I'm definitely no expert, but if anyone is dealing with this (or just has questions) and wants to talk my door (email) is always open!

2. Sometimes I throw myself little pity parties (in my mind, not literally...ha). I know there are people out there have it so much worse, but sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in our own lives. Things are just not ideal...I live on an really tight budget (which people never understand since I have a decent paying job) because of my INSANE school debt. I live far away from my family for a job I don’t even like. Yea then there’s that. I spend the majority of my days doing a job that...well is not my passion. I’m sure lots of other people are in the same boat, but when I see people who actually enjoy their jobs (my boyfriend) it frustrates me that I have one I don’t care about. And yes the logical thing would be to change that, but due to the financial situation mentioned I just can’t do that. Blagh. See, stupid pity party. And it’s over...NOW. I just have to stop and remind myself of all the wonderful things I have in life (family, friends, Brian!) and then it puts everything into perspective. :)

3. I don’t want kids, which I have told you all before. But what I haven’t told you is that I secretly detest when people don’t get it. When they get all bent out of shape about it OR (this is the worst) they don’t take me seriously. They say something like oh, yea sure...just wait Kassie, you’ll want kids in a few years. I know it shouldn’t bother me, but it does - because I feel like I'm being judged.  So, here it is in plain english...I just don’t like the idea of being a mother.  It's not that I dislike children, I mean I don't ooo and ahh over them like lots of people do, but I like them enough when they are around...and well behaved...and go home after a few hours.  But to the point - kids are a time-suck, energy-suck, money-suck, and sanity-suck. If you want children, that’s fine by me. But when I tell you I don’t, don’t look at me like I’m the crazy one. Besides,I have a fur-child...and that works out just fine for me. (go ahead parents, do the eye roll, I know you want to! LOL :P)

4. I’m an atheist. I think I’ve said this out loud maybe twice in my life. It's really hard for me to even admit to myself, mainly because I worry it will be upsetting (and possibly hurtful) for some people who care about me, but it’s the truth. It’s frustrating that I have to listen to people talk about religion all the time (at work! which I find insane and incredibly inappropriate!), but as soon as it becomes known that I don’t share the same beliefs it’s like...idk. TABOO. If someone expects me to accept their beliefs than they should be willing to accept mine, no? In any case, I’ve decided I’m going to try to not hide this tidbit about myself. I mean I’m not going to go crazy and scream it from the rooftops, but if someone asks or it comes up I will be honest. I would like to add, I have nothing against Christians or other religious long as you aren’t bringing harm to anyone. Just because we don’t believe the exact same things doesn’t mean we can’t get along just fine.

5. Last but not least...well maybe least, ha. I’m quitting the 30 for 30 challenge. I enjoyed it this time more than last time, but I’m so busy (read: stressed out) with packing and moving right now that I just can’t deal with it. It takes too much planning and ...effort (ha) with the photos everyday and I just don’t have the time. I would like to say though I actually made it to outfit 15 (just didn't get them posted)!!

Music Monday: The Toadies

I have to start out this post saying...I thought this band was broken up (the were for awhile), but apparently they got back together in 2006/2007 - well not all the original members, but still.  I literally JUST found this out.  Where the hell have I been?  I LOVED this band back in the day and still do.  Well, love their old music...I haven't listened to the new stuff, but you bet your ass I'm gonna!

Anyway, the lead singer, Todd Lewis, has a fantastically unique voice and I just love it.  If you've ever heard of the Toadies then you've probably heard the song Possum Kingdom, which yes is great, but I really love the song Tyler.  Now I won't lie to you and say the song isn't a little weird...people always ponder on what it's really about, but after some research I'm fairly certain it's about this window peeper/stalker that was in Tyler, Texas (which is near where the band is from).  Regardless, I still like this song.  The music is great and the lyrics make you think...and are kind of eerie.

Disclaimer:  I do not like this video.  The dude running around is hella distracting - and it's stupid.  BUT again, the song itself is great, so hit play and open facebook in another tab. :)

Style Log: Rusty Zebra (eleven)

{Sweater/f21 :: Skirt/attention, thrifted :: Flats/American Eagle, payless :: Belt/f21 :: Necklace/Mod Cloth}

I really like this outfit!  It seems so simple...I have no clue why I haven't worn these pieces together before.  I once again find myself unmotivated and with little to say...on that note, don't be alarmed if my posting becomes more sporadic - I'm going to be busy for the next couple of weeks.  Not to worry though, I will carry on with my 30 for 30 and take pictures to prove it!  I'll probably just double on posts or something. :)

Happy Tuesday!

Style Log: Pink & Tan (ten)

{Shirt/Old Navy, thrifted :: Khakis/kmart :: flats/American Eagle, payless :: necklace/f21}

This weekend was packed packing.  I really wish I had more to report on, but seriously...moving just consumes my life right now, it's insane.  I guess one other cool thing happened - we saw The Avengers! 3D!!  It was seriously awesome!  I'm not some comic book fan or anything, but I did LOVE the Ironman movies (probably because of Robert Downy Jr., yum) and I enjoyed Thor and what I saw of Captain America. (*for some reason I posted before finishing my thought...I meant to also say....) Either way, I think this movie rocked!  I was expecting to enjoy it...but I will actually say I loved it!  ...and it's definitely worth the few extra bucks for 3D. :)

Style Log: Red & Black Abstract(nine)

{Shirt/Kohl's, thrifted :: Skirt/thrifted :: Cardi/thrifted :: Mary Jane Heels/Kohl's}

Not much to say today, except it's friday!! Woot!  My weekend will be spent packing mainly and hopefully (if it doesn't storm or rain) we'll take a break from the packing with a picnic.

It's starting to really set in that I'm moving.  It's like, hey you're going to be out of here in 3 weeks.  Seems crazy.  I mean, I'm no stranger to moving, I moved a lot during college, but I have been at my current residence for the past three years - the most I ever stayed anywhere else was a school year (if that)...except for my parent's house of course.  My girlfriends are coming up for a visit my last official weekend here, it wasn't planned just sort of worked out that way.  So, it will be kinda of fun to have a last little hoorah and say goodbye to the cute little duplex that I've learned to call home. :)

Style Log: Lime & Lace (eight)

{lace top/f21 :: teal cami/f21 :: lime cardi/merona, thrifted :: slacks/kohl's :: gladiators that I should have took a better picture of/gifted}

Holy humid weather!  We are in summer storm mode now.  Super muggy and constant threat of severe storms and/or tornadoes!  Not gonna like, with the exception of the tornado weather I love this time of year...we even had some sun rain earlier.  You know...when it's super bright out, but then just randomly rains for like 5 minutes.  It feels like an oxymoron. lol.
You're probably wondering why I'm wearing long sleeves if it's so humid, well that's because for whatever reason the air is blasting at the office and I freeze my ass off all day! The secret is LAYERS. :)
Oh, mom made the point to tell me the I was doing lots of great color blocking and that was in right now.  I love that my mom is up on trends! :D  Plus, to be honest I hadn't even thought of it as color blocking - I just try to get dressed in the morning. Ha!

Oh and guess what?  It's almost the weekend!
Have a great day!
xo, kassie
